The FIGARO MAGAZINE
“In six years, our guide to the 200 most beautiful guesthouses has become a reference. Discover, with our 2014 selection, behind the scenes of an exciting field survey!
Each year, from September to February, our team of journalists crosses France in search of rare addresses for our selection of guesthouses. This guide was the first of its kind of this scale (and still is) in the mainstream press. To be completely honest, when we embarked on this adventure in 2009, we did not think we could sustain this meeting. The first opus responded to a strong trend of the moment (at the time, 1000 new addresses opened each year!) Which we feared in the short term drying up.
But it has to be said that the “guesthouse” phenomenon is far from being exhausted. Rooted in our terroirs at its beginnings, it now extends to the entire coast, invites itself into the historic heart of our most beautiful cities, settles in the mountains and tries out all styles, from shabby chic to the ultradesign. Castle life, country charm? Owners with overflowing imagination and sure taste are constantly reinventing them. This enormous potential for creativity and know-how, we want to capitalize on today more than ever. This is the reason why we published a new bookstore version last October, presenting a collection of 300 addresses * and launched on the occasion of this 6th edition of our guide, the first prize for guest rooms Figaro Magazine . ”
Petit Futé’s opinion on CHATEAU DE RIVERIE : Le Petit Futé
It is our favorite of the year. The standard address you are looking for when reading Le Petit Futé Autour de Lyon. The charming address held by adorable people that will make you forget, for a weekend or a longer stay, all your worries of stressed city dwellers. You have to climb to the heights of Riverie to discover a superb building from the 11th century, opening a splendid panorama towards the Alps, the Rhône Valley and the Lyon conurbation. Behind the thick stone walls, the guest house is the joint work of Valérie and Guy Palluy. She, a caregiver by trade, knows how to welcome us, to listen to our needs, to offer us a stay made of moments of relaxation and conviviality. He, a farmer by trade and one of the creators of Uniferme, knows the terroir perfectly and shares his passion for this exceptional land. Besides, a garden with an organic vegetable garden allows to feed a high quality table d’hôtes for the meal – homemade dumplings, rabbit terrine, brioche sausage, seasonal cream soups, chicken liver cake, endive tatin …- as for the particularly successful breakfast -cake of the day, fresh bread, pastries, homemade jam, homemade yogurts, fresh fruit juice … All that remains is to fully rest in one of the 5 rooms – capacity for 15 people in total – fully renovated, perfectly equipped, combining the charm of the old with a contemporary spirit. One of the smartest addresses in this guide.
We were contacted by Rose Magazine who wanted to give addresses to their readers.
This national coverage newspaper is distributed in hospitals and clinics because it is primarily intended for people who have or have had care following a cancer.
Our guest house was chosen for its very calm character, which allows a very appreciated rest.
